Anita Sethi for the guardian writes Libraries don’t have to be a thing of the past – just look at Melbourne’s She reflects in her article about the State Library of Victoria that;
Libraries provide a knowledge of that richly layered history of a city shaping the present-day. Offering all the services you’d expect – an extensive events and talks programme; a quota of free internet access; the Readings bookshop on the ground floor alongside the cafe, Mr Tulk – all in all there’s a real community feeling.
She then goes on to reflect on closures of libraries in Manchester and of funding cuts to libraries in Victoria under the Bailleu government in 2011
For #FutureLibrary how do we address these various expectation of services and expectations with a shrinking budget?
